About this website
I was first shown Neocities through YouTube videos about old websites, 2000s internet nostalgia, and making websites in general. Even though I never experienced this era and never knew how to make a website properly because I previously had used Google Sites to make shovelware and crappy "Roblox revivals" that I deleted years later out of embarassment, I thought it would be cool to try to code an actual website like this and during the time I was playing DOOM, which a friend at school introduced to me to its modding scene and source ports; I decided to make this website originally under the name of "Basher's DOOMsite." It was a simpe DOOM fansite in which I took inspiration and ideas from classic DOOM websites back from that popularized time. The main attraction for that site was and still is the directory, in which had 'original' DOOM and DOOM II .WADs created by me and a few others who had either submitted in the "2024 WAD Contest" or the defunct submissions google form, and basically other shit I threw in there like a donate page, videos, and a some stuff I later removed because It didn't fit with the website's theme or purpose. It was until November of 2024, I had rebranded the website's name to "basher" (later basher.XYZ to make it cooler) and redesigned it because I wanted to branch out and do other things rather than being just a DOOMsite and being more of a personal site. I still like DOOM, I don't play it as much as I used to either due to how my life (or myself) has changed or I had gotten into newer games or revisited old ones and speaking of revisitng I still come back to DOOM when I can and I'll make another .WAD if I'm bored.
